I am grateful for running. Actually, let’s not go quite that far just yet…
Those that know me know that I hate running. Always have. If the Ironman event didn’t require it, there’s no way I’d have ever done that much of it over the last several years. So I’m taking a completely new approach. There are two new factors: the first is to give myself permission to not run if I’m feeling like crap or if I absolutely don’t want to (regardless of the reason), essentially never “forcing myself to run”. The second is involve others. Running by myself sucks. I have found a willing part-time training partner in Norm and so we’ll see how this goes. Today was our first run. It was short and there were parts where I questioned why I would ever try to do this to myself again. Bottom line is that today was tolerable and really it was enjoyable (if only for a few seconds). We even ran into an old friend/co-worker of Norm’s that he hadn’t seen in 10 years. Amazing coincidence!
Got tickets to The Dark Knight Rises midnight show July 19 – so pumped! Also happy to be caught up on laundry, other household chores and organized meals for the next couple of days.
