Grateful for productive day. Got a posting done on craigslist for a guitar case I’m trying to get rid of. Was feeling very vocally creative while putting away groceries and came up with fun vocal pieces that I captured on iPhone. Will be able to use the ideas later in the studio. Went for a walk with a friend and then made a quick, easy, and nutritious wraps for dinner with some left-over salmon. I even got an impromptu piano lesson out of the deal!
Finally got my G&L electric guitar re-strung. Both of our studio guitars have been in need of new strings for quite some time. I hated the strings I’d been using for a long time and I’m loathe to try new ones. Think I found some I like.
Found an interesting productivity suggestion on lifehacker based on Jerry Seinfeld’s Don’t Break the Chain ‘methodology’. Way back before I had started all this Ironman craziness, I worked out every day for a couple of years. Part of the motivation was the same ‘don’t break the chain’ mentality. The three areas I’m currently focusing on are exercise, music, and cleaning/organizing/purging. There’s a bit more too it, but I’m trying to hit something in each of those three ‘categories’ each day for at least 15 minutes.
Grateful for a neighborhood walk on a gorgeous, nearly Spring-like day. Got a few more things done in the kitchen and dismantled the old water softener to get it in the garbage bin. Dinner with friends at the Tornado Steak House. It was my first time there; perhaps my expectations were a little too high. Pretty darn good old fashioned though.
Grateful for a productive day. Got a bit of work done on the house and a good LLTAM recording session with Norm. Made an awesome salmon dinner and enjoyed a movie with a friend. I appreciate finally being able to enjoy a movie about divorce without feeling so damn raw. While it was slightly cheesy in a couple of spots overall I really liked it.
Delicious diner with Norm and the GDFB’s after work. Norm, Ian, and I then watched the Foo Fighters‘ documentary, Back and Forth. Really interesting. I love how Norm and I periodically stop the DVD to talk about our own experiences and our own understanding or interpretation of what’s going on. We’re both HUGE Foo fans.
Great dinner with my favorite family. Yummy Indian dish I can’t pronounce and Laurel made some incredible chocolate mousse for dessert. Got in a productive LLTAM session with Norm as well.
Grateful to have my taxes filed. The refunds are pretty nice too. 🙂
Discovered a forgotten playlist in iTunes this morning. Love having music streamed all over the house. I was singing up a storm in the shower. Great way to start my day!
Made a delicious and simple dinner for a friend and then we went to see The Artist. Very unique film and I really liked it. The “silent’ style is a very different way to experience a movie. Even though the gentleman next to us was hacking miserably throughout, I was grateful to experience it in a theater where the heightened sense of the patrons (all sound, not just the movie sound) around you adds to the whole experience.
Oh, and I still LOVE rough-coated Jack Russell terriers!
Had a good discussion with my boss today regarding my new position description. I’m pretty confident we are on the same page with things. Hoping to get some sort of official word/approval within 3-4 weeks. Got groceries tonight and made a solid start on my 2011 taxes.
