Gratitude – 8/31/2012
Grateful for my first experience at Dane Dances, what an great community event. Madisalsa was excellent as always. Got to catch up with a bunch of friends, most of which I didn't expect to be there. Ended the evening with some new friends in a lovely condo with amazing views of the capitol, terrace, and lake.

Productive morning at work. Enjoyed last pre-season Packer game with Norm and Ian.

Was able to get a run in after work today. Thankful for more prodcutive work in the studio with Norm. We worked on two new songs: Ruthenium and Technetium.

Had a fun lunch with coworkers. Dealt with my first dissatisfied employee on the new team. While it wasn't pleasant, its part of my role and I was glad to work through it in a productive manner. I really appreciate my team. Got a draft of my new job description. Mostly enjoyed a movie this evening - Act of Valor.

Good run this evening. Gathered some more helpful bonk research for myself. Had a productive evening around the house. Pleasant catch up call wishing my brother Duane a happy birthday (a day late).
Gratitude – 8/25/2012
Grateful for a weekend to focus on myself. This weekend is my personal retreat. Started off with breakfast at Cranberry Creek and then a mocha at Caribou. Enjoyed hanging out on the deck to do some research, writing, and planning. Neighbor stopped over to intro himself. Was nice as we've seen each other a lot and hadn't said anything previously. FOr dinner I ordered Noodles on line and picked up a few min later at drive through. Kinda fun, hadn't done that before. Very productive personal day.
Gratitude – 8/24/2012
Grateful for some positive feedback on yesterday's presentation. The interns finished up today, so proud of them and what they accomplished this summer. They even gave me a thoughtful parting gift and a nice card. Finished out the day with a bonfire and great conversation with Al & Sharon.
Gratitude – 8/23/2012
Did an important presentation for the group of execs I work with today. Important not just because it was for execs, but because the topic was very new and out of the box thinking for them and it was an assertive step for our new team to bring it forward. We presented a value and probability model and it was our first major foray into real business analytics. It was challenging material that encouraged (forced) people to think differently. Thankfully it was a productive conversation.
Gratitude – 8/22/2012
Grateful to be offered another interview at work. After the last internal offer, it seemed like my boss and my boss' boss and I had come to a mutual understanding about my role, title, and compensation with the new department I was starting. There was a significant lack of progress on all that to date. I applied for another postion this week and decided that I wanted to do the path I was on, but was frustrated with the lack of progress. I laid it out for my boss and was clear, firm, direct, and honest to get the things that have been discussed resolved. It was nice to have some leverage and not much to lose. Seems like things will be resolved this time. 🙂

Grateful for an evening of APT fun with Norm, Laurel and Kathleen. We did the pre-show picnic and enjoyed Troilus & Cressida.
