  • Overcame a very challenging day where nothing went according to plan, and very little went right. Appreciative of the persistence lesson the Trifecta taught me.
  • Was able to make some more progress on the FTP. Picked up the hearthstone, got some staining done, milled more casement and maple accents.
  • Enjoyed pizza, hot tub, and a movie (Green Zone), with a friend.

  • Got a great note from a close, out-of-town friend catching me up on family.
  • A most excellent adventure road tripping with Norm to New Glarus.
  • Enjoyed dinner with friends at The Glarner Stube.
  • Great time with friends at the New Glarus Oktoberfest.
  • Got to meet Dan and Deb Carey.
  • Made it home safely from New Glarus.

Daily Positives – 9/23/2010

  • Great lunch catching up with the fellas at Olive Garden.
  • Productive physical therapy session. My back is pretty much back to 100% and my neck is close to normal, just a bit of lingering stiffness.
  • Able to be supportive for a vulnerable friend.
  • Breezy walk with gimpy Sitka.
  • Had a couple of fun texting conversations going on while drinking and staining.
  • FTP: 3rd coat on most of the current round of casement.
  • Good friend is considering doing an Ironman event despite some significant physical challenges. I offered to help in the quest.

Daily Positives – 9/22/2010

  • Productive session with my boss mapping out a couple of process flows for a new initiative at work.
  • FTP: Ordered the new Indiana Limestone slab for the the hearth.
  • Great time hanging out and catching up with an out of town friend at the Union Terrace. First time I’d been outside there all summer. Forgotten how great it is to be there.
  • Super proud of my friend Kathleen. She got her Wee Small Stretch Book published and the first run of copies arrived today from the printer. I got to buy the very first one. 🙂 I’ll post more details as soon as it’s available on her website.
  • Did some much needed re-organization and cleaning with Norm in the studio.

A shot of Kathleen’s new book. One of the many cool things about it, is that it’s spiral bound so you can easily lay it out flat while working on the stretches.

  • Fun brunch and conversation with The Girls at Sardine.
  • Caught up with David at Berkeley Running Company while on a mini shopping trip with a friend (Apple store, Williams-Sonoma, Gloria Jeans Coffee, Penzey’s, & Berkeley). Escaped with only buying a cup of coffee, some caramels, and a cookie. 🙂
  • Picked up a friend at the airport in Milwaukee and had a nice chat on the way home.
  • Great evening with Norm and the GDFB’s watching the Packer game at a friend’s house.

Daily Positives – 9/18/2010

  • Up way too early after a late night to get ready for FTP. Put together a to-do list, calculated maple needs for trim and mantle, grabbed breakfast on the go, selected and picked up rough-sawn maple from Brunsell, and picked up some groceries for lunch.
  • Had another great day with Norm & Jim in the shop working on the FTP. Last round of casement sanded, new planer blades installed, and more rough stock planed.
  • Casual dinner and conversation with a friend and then enjoyed The Dark Knight (again).

  • Ordered an electronic drum kit for the studio today. Feels good to invest guilt-free in a personal passion I’ve had since childhood.
  • Bunch of stuff crossed off my personal to-do list.
  • Super fun evening playing bartender and socializing at a co-worker friend’s party. Got to hang out with, and get to know some cool folks better.

  • Able to get some errands accomplished over lunch.
  • Relaxing massage from Suzie at Af’firm Massage Therapy.
  • Yummy dinner and good conversation at a friend’s house tonight. Finished the season finally of Whale Wars.
  • Typing today’s Positives on an iPad, though it’s not mine. Borrowing a friend’s. It rocks!
