Grateful I can somehow keep my shit together during the brief periods of time when it feels like the bottom drops out. Perhaps the most practical lesson of my Ironman experience has been to just keep moving, no matter what, even when things seem bleakest.
Rode solo tonight, still grateful for the amazing March weather. Got two laps in on Ag Hill at the end. Relatively productive night in the studio for a ‘solo’ LLTAM recording session.
Grateful for effective instructors. Had a second tango lesson this evening from a couple that were really good teachers. Enjoyed this go ’round much more than last time.
Grateful for friends to help erase crappy days at work. Norm and the GDFB’s came over to help on the house. Got more raking done, moved the dryer outlet, and reconfigured the venting. A Dairy Queen run with The Boys afterwards helped too.

Longest ride of the season (nearly 2 hours) with Norm and felt fantastic – even did an extra lap on Ag Hill. Got some raking done in the backyard and met the North neighbor and their black lab. Was pleasantly surprised to really enjoy an afternoon performance by soprano, Catherine Schweitzer during her preparations for auditions in Germany. I have had very little exposure to operatic singing and came away with a new found appreciation. Her talent is obvious but I was most inspired by her poise and confidence. Finished off the day watching The Trotsky – mostly enjoyable.
Four straight weeks of Don’t Break the Chain!
Norm and Ian helped out at the house this morning before a supply run and lunch at our fav Mexican joint, Habenero. Extremely productive LLTAM recording session with Norm this afternoon – fleshed out additional pieces for Sunset. Delicious dinner on the grill followed by a social walk and quiet evening with friends. Ended the day by finishing The Sense of an Ending. A worthwhile work of fiction that left me asking more questions than it answered and encouraged me to contemplate my own memories and history. I highly recommend it. It would be impossible for me to provide any sort of a review without giving away too much. If you’ve read it, I’d love to discuss it with you sometime!
First flowers at the new house
Another great weather day, we’re getting spoiled with an early Spring. Validating conversation with one of the C-level folks at work. Nate had the day off and drove his Harley to Madison just to meet Norm and I for lunch (he got in almost 300 miles all told). Great time with the fellas at the new Dickey’s Barbecue Pit. Good place and great BBQ. Got a ride in with Norm after work and my front yard raked before retiring on the deck to watch the sunset from my deck.

I appreciate my deck. Came home mid-day to enjoy lunch on the deck. Amazingly warm March day. Got in a walk with a friend after work and then spent some time with Alex. Norm and I tag-teamed in helping him learn to ride a bike. Very fun and deeply rewarding. Delicious dinner with The Family and a productive LLTAM recording session this evening with Norm. Have a solid musical arrangement in place for Germanium.
