I am grateful that even though my car is old, dirty, and beat up, it still provides value to others for hauling things around that can’t be managed with their own vehicle.
I am grateful for some time off of work to get more things done around the house and to enjoy the yard a bit more before I have to leave.
Disappointed that the sawyer couldn’t make it on account of the rain but I made productive use of my time regardless.
I am grateful for high-speed internet.
Using dial-up, satellite, and a sprint data card over the last 8 years has given me a new appreciation for bandwidth. Just got Charter installed at the apartment. I remember when I used to curse them. Whole different perspective now.
I am grateful for being asked to do some special projects for one of the C-levels at work.
He is taking on some additional responsibilities and is looking for some tools to help with his tacking and analysis. I helped gather some data and build a graphical tracking tool in Excel for him to use. The fun part was the business implications and the confidentiality of the information behind the scenes. I appreciate the trust and confidence.
I am grateful for the hard work from some good friends to help me move things this weekend.
I am grateful that the last dream I woke up to in my house included Tobie and Sitka; seems quite fitting.
I didn’t even mind that they got really muddy and full of burrs. 🙂
I am grateful for all the things my house has provided me over the last 8 years and for some special friends to share the last night my beloved “Wittewood”.
Way beyond basic shelter, the house has been my home, training center, wood shop, educational center, entertainment center, and nature & wildlife retreat. While it is tough to let go, I am appreciative that it is going to people that really want it and I am extremely proud of what was built and that it will serve families for decades to come.
I am grateful for cute little baby bunnies in the back yard unmaimed by inquisitive huskies.
I am grateful for a glorious morning in the yard of my house with a warm sunrise, a gentle breeze, an explosion of Spring, and an amazing symphony of birds and chipmunks going about their daily business. I will really miss this place.
I am grateful for the great customer service at A to Z Rentall.
I needed to rent a mini bobcat and trailer to drag some logs out of my back yard for milling. When I called to reserve the unit, they didn’t have one available because it was being repaired. Greg had a meeting later that day at the Windsor site and offered to bring theirs back to the East office so I could use that one. He had asked how I was going to pull it and I told him the Honda Odyssey (Norm & Laurel’s) I used the last time I rented it. When I checked in a different person was going through the contract and asked the towing question again, stating that the vehicle needed 5K lb towing capacity. I told him the Odyssey. He politely told me that couldn’t tow the bobcat and trailer. I responded (somewhat belligerently) that it already had and with no problems. He finished up the paperwork and directed me out back to the pick up lot. As I backed up to the trailer, Mike the yard guy waved for me to stop. I got out and he told me that I couldn’t tow the rig with the Odyssey. I was slightly irritated to be this far along in the process and still meeting resistance. So again I explained that I’d already towed this with this set up. He courteously pointed out the 3500 lb load sticker on the trailer hitch and said calmly “I can’t let you tow this with that vehicle”. Thankfully Greg (who I’m pretty sure is the manager) was standing nearby and said to me “it’s a good thing we’re running a special on deliveries today. You’re the third person this has happened to.” Greg gave me a fair price on the delivery and pick up and they were able to take care of me right away. They had it hooked up and were following me out the drive way within 10 minutes. Mike apologized profusely when he got it to my house explaining that they’ve really cracked down recently on towing capacity. I totally understood and apologized myself for being a bit of a jerk. I totally understood their situation and they had tried to validate that with me so it was my own fault for not checking ahead of time, I just didn’t think I needed to because I’d already towed it. Lesson learned.
