Gratitude – 4/21/2011
I am grateful for the simple pleasure of now being able to play music upstairs over my home network.
Been wanting to do it for a long time and finally set it up using iTunes, an AirPort Express, powered speakers and the Apple Remote app on the iPhone. Wow, its cool!
Gratitude – 4/20/2011
I am grateful for my passion for facilitation and for the level of skill I have reached in this area.
Today, after never having facilitated a discussion through video conference, I deftly and effectively facilitated a challenging business continuity discussion involving 26 people in four different sites through video conference. I received great feedback for an effective and productive session. What a awesome experience!
Gratitude – 4/19/2011
I am grateful for reminders from mother nature about how difficult and unpredictable dealing with life transitions can be.
In typical Wisconsin Winter-to-Spring fashion, we had simultaneous lightning, thunder, snow, hail, and rain. Though it was a little daunting getting across town this evening, I am no worse for wear and ready to take on another day tomorrow.

Gratitude – 4/18/2011
I am grateful that the people I work with and for appreciate my effort enough to share their positive feedback with other people I work with and for.
The department I work in is a corporate resource. In my role as a business analyst, I get to work for and with a lot of other business units and departments. This is an excerpt from email to my boss from a C-level executive for whom I’ve been coordinating a significant initiative involving an external consultant. The identifying information has been redacted:
Dean has done an outstanding job in coordinating the activities of the (external consultants) which (the lead consultant) recognized in her email below. I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your willingness to have Dean provide assistance on this project and how much I enjoy working with him. His contributions have been invaluable.
From the Lead Consultant:
<the other consultant> and I just wanted to thank you for all your help during the onsite needs assessment in <site 2> and in Trip # 1 to <site 1>. We can honestly say <the organization Dean works for> falls within our top 5 clients ever in terms of preparedness, efficiency, and hospitality . . . those ingredients make our jobs easier, as the schedules can be quite intense.

I am grateful for having acquired finish carpentry skills that are useful for helping others that take care of me and applying those skills allow me to spend quality time with good people while being productive.

I am grateful to work for, and with, some incredibly respectful and supportive executives that understand, but don’t play, political games and are willing to genuinely listen when I have a concern.
