- Excellent productive session with Ariel this morning. Turns out some of my best qualities as a human being also put me at risk for being taken advantage of, even if others don’t do it intentionally or maliciously. I need to do a better job of taking care of myself, allowing myself to feel angry & hurt when appropriate, setting & maintaining boundaries, and not waste energy trying to protect or defend others at my own expense. None of this makes me a bad person.
- Successfully wrapped up and transitioned work responsibilities in preparation for my time off.
- Compliments from a co-worker today on my value to the project team.
- Fully packed and organized for the IM CdA trip.
- Pleasant, brief dinner with Kathleen at Weary Traveler
- Got to hang and talk with Jen and made a trip to Target for some additional travel supplies.
- All of the requirements have been submitted to the Feds for my validation project
- My boss passed along positive feedback she received from one of the C-level folks
- Sitka and got out for a nice walk
- Got some mowing done
- More organizing and packing done for IM CdA
- Got in a quick run and felt pretty good.
- Really enjoyed the morning trip for coffee and brunch supplies with Nick and Norm as well as the brunch prep together. Would love to have a cooking show with the two of them.
- Great relationship discussion with Liz.
- Good conversation with Laurie, Norm, and Laurel.
- Nap!
- Enjoyable trip home with the Franczek’s.
- Can’t think of a better way to have spent Father’s day.
- Very proud of Liz and Romy. In addition to being wonderful human beings, they have raised two amazing kids and worked through some incredibly difficult life changes. Their perseverance, attitude, and tolerance are inspiring!
- Decent bike ride. Was able to work through changing 2 rear flats and improve my time. It was a pain but the practice was good for me.
- Got the bike and some gear packed up and delivered for shipping to CdA
- Pleasant ride to Iowa City with the Franczek’s
- Great evening of food, drinks, and conversation with Nick, Allie, Emma, Liz, Laurie, Romy, and Julie
- Got some good advice from Julie on my bonk/glucose issue.
- Got to see Nick perform the role of Snoopy in You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown. He was great!
- Extremely proud of Nick and Allie – they have developed into amazing young adults.

- Appreciated some constructive feedback from a high level co-worker about how to improve another business relationship
- Great outdoor lunch with Jim at Monty’s
- Capped off a stellar week of productivity with an amazing day. By this afternoon, we had submitted all but 2 of the 140 requirements a week ahead of schedule on the validation initiative I am coordinating.
- Buggy walk with Sitka
- Got a good bit of life maintenance stuff done tonight as well as some bike maintenance and organizing & packing for IM CdA
- Very quick ride this morning to check out the tune up. Been having some interesting discomfort (not significant, contagious, or serious 😉 ) in a specifically unmentionable spot. Glad to discover that it was not exacerbated by the bike saddle.
- At our staff meeting this morning, my boss shared that I had recently been mentioned in a positive and prominent way at an Executive meeting.
- Affable experience at the AT&T store while I was inquiring about plan information and iPhone pre-ordering.
- Decent swim in rough water on Mendota this evening.
- Pleasant chat with Laurel as I was picking up veggies. Also apologized to her for the family plan crossfire.
- Fun walk with Jen and Sundance last night. Glad she’s feeling better.
- Brief, productive discussion with Michele regarding some of the logistics for IM CdA
- Exclusively positive dentist appointment – other than my favorite hygienist, Krysta, is moving to Guatemala in January for 3 years of mission work.
- Things are ratcheting up at work with impending deadlines and I had another very productive day juggling multiple initiatives and multiple clients.
- Pleasant walk with Sitka
- Dinner with Norm and the GDFB’s. I love how the boys are generally very happy to see me and give me hugs when I leave. Ian is always so proud to show me the latest Lego contraption he’s built.
- Apologized to Norm for my part in allowing him to be caught in the cross-fire between Michele and I regarding his iPhone Family Plan proposal.
- More work fun in the studio with Norm on the LLTAM project. Got the basic music for a two-part verse and part of the chorus worked out on a new song. Working song title acronym: IFHY.
- Generally trying to work on complimenting people more frequently and doing it genuinely. Today was a productive day for outbound compliments.

- Caught up with a former colleague Eric over lunch. He’s applying for a job where I now work. Think he’d be a great fit.

- Got to see my sister Karen for a bit.
- Casual evening with Kathleen. I really enjoy discussing business with her and being able to utilize my skill-set as a business analyst.
- Very proud of Jen, she’s a fighter & ahead of the curve with her recovery.
- Got some kudos from one of the C-level’s today. She expressed her appreciation for my efforts thus far and hoped I be sticking with them for the next phase. The validation initiative I’ve been working on has been going smoothly and we’re ahead of a much larger organization (actually a competitor in other arenas) working on the same process.
- Got in a quick walk with Sitka
- Helped Norm install a new stereo in his van
- Enjoyed a day with absolutely nothing on the agenda – it was awesome!
- Slept in!
- Enjoyed an iced mocha (in bed and online with the laptop)
- Had a pleasant brunch at Olde Town by myself while doing some some reading and research
- Enjoyable grocery shopping trip
- Played some Bloodsport with Norm for a bit – long overdue.
- Got to hang out and watch The Saint and the first episode of Life with Jen.
- Overheard a new word today and though I haven’t yet been able to use it practically, it may well be my current favorite: “Fuckalicious“. What’s not to love about vocabulary?! 😉
